Q: Do you guys have any religious inclinations, or do you just kinda dig the earth? If you could sum up your philosophy in a few words how would you do so? Love your music!

A: Hi. Thank you. We have had members from a lot of different beliefs in our band, including atheists, Christians, Mormons, agnostics, Buddhists, etc. Phil and I (this is Beth answering this) have a similar outlook, but I guess I think about that stuff more than he does. I'd say it's a combination of deep reverence and love for the Earth that sustains us, and the sun and the moon and stars, and the food we eat. I've studied yoga and Buddhism, and I'm an animist, which means I believe everything has its own sort of consciousness. I'm a fan of the science that's exploring the new physics, e.s.p., and showing that our ancestors from all over the world made their spiritual beliefs in actual alignment with what people are discovering in quantum physics and brain science now. So it's not hippie dippy new age stuff; it's based in reality and is actually pretty pragmatic.

Q: What has been your favorite stop on your tour this year?

A: Probably the show in Minneapolis, at the Cedar. It was a really fun night. Not much sleep though.
